TEAM DESCRIPTIONS & DETAILS

FOOD TEAM

ALL FOOD TEAM VOLUNTEERS MEET AT THE PLN HEADQUARTERS.
​The Food Team lead will give you a specific job for the evening and will be your point person for questions you may have while serving.

COOKING + KITCHEN CLEAN ONLY
​3-6pm

​

• As a volunteer on the Food Team Kitchen Team, you will help cook the food and clean up the kitchen. This group doesn't go downtown. You will meet at our PLN headquarters on Gallatin.

COOKING + PACKAGING + DISTRIBUTION
​3-8:30pm

• As a volunteer on the Food Team, you will help prep, package food, distribute food downtown, & help with clean up. You will meet at our PLN headquarters on Gallatin.

CLOTHING TEAM 
​(must be a returning volunteer)

ALL CLOTHING TEAM VOLUNTEERS MEET AT THE PLN HEADQUARTERS.
The clothing team lead will give you a specific job for the evening and will be your point person for questions you may have while serving.

MEN'S CLOTHING
5-8:30pm

• As a volunteer on the Men’s Clothing Team, you will help set up, distribute clothing, & tear down the men’s clothing area. 

MEN'S CLOTHING POST
​5-8:30pm

• As the Men’s Clothing Post, you will guide the line to men’s clothing throughout the night. Directly individuals to Men’s Clothing Team members who are ready and available to serve them. 

WOMEN'S CLOTHING
​5-8:30pm

• As a volunteer on the Women’s Clothing Team, you will help set up, distribute clothing, & tear down the women’s clothing area.

CLEAN UP TEAM

ALL CLEAN UP TEAM VOLUNTEERS MEET AT THE PLN HEADQUARTERS

CLEAN UP TEAM
​5-8:30pm

As a volunteer on the Clean Up Team, you will help make sure the area downtown is completely clean. We like to leave our space cleaner than we found it! You can ask those we are serving if you can take their trash. Enjoy conversations with our friends as we serve. As needed, you may be asked to jump in to support with other teams. ​

REFRESHMENT TEAM 
​(must be a returning volunteer)

ALL REFRESHMENT TEAM VOLUNTEERS MEET AT THE GAY ST. CON LOCATION.

REFRESHMENT TEAM
​5:45-8:30pm

​As part of the coffee/refreshment team, you will set up the station, serve coffee, snow cones, and other refreshments to our friends, and tear down the station. ​

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT TEAM

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT TEAM
6-8:30pm

​As a volunteer on the Community Engagement Team, you will be connecting with our friends! Say hello, serve people directly, checking in with the community, offering prayer if appropriate. You will help set up + tear down downtown. You will not have a position on the clothing or food team.  As needed, you may be asked to jump in to support with other teams. ​

• The Monday you volunteer with us, we ask All first time Volunteers, to attend our  Mandatory New Volunteer Orientation, which is held at 5:15 PM at the PLN Headquarters.
  
  
• This training is highly beneficial to you! It helps you understand why we serve, it will connect you with new friends to serve together, and give you confidence to share love and dignity with your neighbors! :)

VOLUNTEER COMMUNICATIONS

EMAILS - You will receive an email confirmation upon signing up to serve. You will also receive detailed emails leading up to the outreach with the information you need to know about serving, please make sure you read these emails. ​

WHAT TO WEAR WHILE VOLUNTEERING

We emphasize honor and dignity in every aspect of our work. Please wear clothing that is loose-fitting and has appropriate messaging and closed-toed shoes. We ask that you don’t wear flashy, short, tight, cropped, or revealing clothing. Help us create an environment of safety and respect.

PARKING

• At our Headquarters, there is a parking lot behind the church off of Hart Lane & Baxter. You can also find street parking on Baxter Street or in the Dollar Tree parking lot next door. ​

• At GAY ST LOCATION (GAY ST CON and 1st Ave 7th) - You can park on Gay Street. Enter Gay St Con from the South heading toward the city. Pass under the Woodland Street Bridge where you will be met by our parking team who will help direct you. 

Dinner is not provided for volunteers, please eat before you come.
