  • Director of Street Outreach

    Job Responsibilities

    Programs and Outreach Leadership

    • Provide strategic and operational oversight for Relief and Community Programs, ensuring goals are met efficiently, safely, and with dignity. Supervise and mentor the Relief Manager and Community Manager, lead regular team meetings.

    • Serve as the frontline leader for all outreach events, with Monday and Thursday currently being our flagships. You will also be available for site visits, and other volunteer events.

    • Continually assess outreach operations, identify service gaps, and implement creative solutions that strengthen relationships and improve support for unhoused neighbors.

    Financial, Vendor, and Resource Management

    • Develop and manage program, operational, project, and administrative budgets. Guide departmental spending, reduce unclassified or unreceipted expenses, and support the Chief of Staff with annual budgeting.

    • Oversee contracts, vendors, city agreements, in kind donations, warehouse operations, inventory, and outreach supplies, ensuring resources are managed responsibly without reducing impact.

    Partnerships and Community Engagement

    • Build and maintain relationships with churches, government agencies, community organizations, and service providers. Expand PLN’s partner network and the resources available through outreach while representing the organization with professionalism, humility, and credibility.

    Operations, Safety, and Compliance

    • Oversee fleet maintenance, registration, insurance, driver safety, risk management, permits, and regulatory compliance. Develop and enforce outreach safety, emergency, and operational protocols to protect guests, volunteers, and staff.

    Data and Evaluation

    • Oversee data collection, evaluation, and reporting for Relief and Community Programs. Ensure accurate updates are prepared for staff, executive leadership, and the Board, and use community feedback to improve outreach practices and program effectiveness.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of four years of operations leadership experience, preferably within a mission-based organization.

    • Demonstrated track record of building and managing organizational infrastructure, including finance oversight, complex HR administration, and administrative systems (facilities, vehicles, technology).

    • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience at a management level, including the ability to coach and develop senior staff.

    • Highly organized, with a successful track record in setting priorities, shaping processes, and developing infrastructure that creates a stronger and more efficient organization.

    • Effective communicator who can engage easily with people from all walks of life.

    • Thorough understanding of project management and the ability to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines and goals.

    • Strong creative problem-solving skills and sound judgment to make fast, smart decisions in the field.

    • High emotional intelligence, with a people-first leadership instinct and the humility to do any job the mission requires.

    • Valid driver’s license and personal auto insurance.

    • Willingness to work outside conventional business hours, including nights and weekends as needed.
