Longtime volunteer Christopher Walton knows his way around a thrift store. He spends countless hours a week hunting for the right coats, shirts and pants for our homeless friends, then combines them with donations to facilitate PLN’s weekly clothing table.

“My first night at PLN was with a friend from China. He spoke at length about all the social programs [in China] for the poor and psychologically dispossessed. He couldn’t wrap his head around our experience. And the night had been pretty overwhelming for us both. It struck a nerve deep within me. The evening experience, my friend’s words and the overwhelming needs I had witnessed being met. I haven’t missed a Monday night since. Not because of his jab of our nation’s seeming inability to provide for its citizens or an emotionally charged sense of “doing the right thing”. But for the simple fact that I had found in myself a homelessness that went beyond physical needs. I had found that home many years before, through my own folly, and more importantly the Cross. This was just the first time I had genuinely witnessed the hands of Christ serving His Bride.”

When Christopher is not collecting, cleaning or delivering clothes, he enjoys perusing local comic books shops with his friends, reading, gardening, watching old movies, as well as hanging out with his niece and nephews. He is active in church-life at the Church at Woodbine which he has been part of his whole life. He likes good music (no matter what genre) and his current favorite place to eat is Cookout.
