Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Where do the meals come from? Some of the food we share comes from the Bridge Bunch Outreach.  Some of it is Trader Joe’s leftovers, some we purchase with donations.  On Monday morning, someone looks at our donations and brainstorms what may be options for dinner that night.  Then we gather the other needed ingredients and supplies and get to work cooking.
  2. Where does your money come from?  Crema Christmas (fundraising sale), concerts, other events and donations.
  3. Aren’t you just enabling people to continue in their homelessness, if you give handouts, and provide for their needs?  It’s true that some people would accuse us of this at first glance.  By no means do we feel like we can pull people off the streets, but we can offer them hope.  We don’t claim we’ll rescue people from homelessness.  We bring a meal for people who may not have had a meal; we bring fresh clothing who may need clothing, and we try for the next hour to love them, no matter how hard they are to love. We also seek to know the people receiving this service, and see how we can help them deal with their trauma and addictions, and become contributing members of our community.  Most of all, we bring hope where hopelessness drowns people.
  4. How do I get involved? Come on a Monday night!  We don’t need smart, resourceful, strong, good-looking people.  We just need willing, humble servants!!
